I grew up in LaGrange, Illinois, a Chicago suburb.
My favorite childhood memory is catching lightning bugs on a hot summer night on Bluff Avenue.
My father was a glazier-turned-welder, my mother a part-time clerk at Hi-Lo, a local grocery store.
My big sister Bobbi grew up to become Roberta Valore, charming matron of Covington, Louisiana. Big brother Alan, who used to tease me and now inspires me, lives in Texas with his wife Sally, who was my friend before she was his.
I've been married to Steve for more than 2/3 of my life.
I’ve lived in the Republic of Panama, Denver and Pueblo, Colorado, and Davenport, Iowa. So far.
I’ve had a long career in non-profit management, with the American Cancer Society, a local museum, and a women’s organization.
My favorite authors are Maeve Binchy (the world’s best storyteller), Marian Keyes, Edward Rutherfurd …
My hero is my daughter Katie, who does it all, with humor and heart.
Hobbies? Genealogy, gardening, playing with Anna.
I live with a cat named Lily. Lily of the Alley.
My favorite places are my patio, London, Wieda and anyplace Steve is.
